Black History Month Celebrations
We are so pleased to be opening Black History Month, at the Battersea Arts Centre, the very building where John Archer was the Mayor of Battersea in 1913.
Come and join us in our Black History Month Celebrations on Friday 1st October.
This is a FREE event for Wandsworth Windrush Elders. The £5.00 deposit is refunded upon attendance. Book your place by Wed 28th September.
Doors open at 12:30pm, where you can visit the exhibition of Black Heroes, have lunch and watch the performance of The Story of John Archer, followed by Q&A

The Story of John Archer is a short play written by Joyce Fraser and Jennifer Farmer. John Archer, born in Liverpool, became the Mayor of Battersea in 1913, being the first Black Mayor in London. Starring Patrick Mackenzie and Vivienne Rochester. Directed by Dr Anni Domingo, with sound design by Vamva Sound Design. This play was first performed on 2 Jul 2021 at the Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival. For those who missed it, this is your chance to enjoy, learn and celebrate!
