Blockchain & the NHS Boost Event: Ideas Workshop
Event Information
Description
An ideas workshop with Digital Catapult and NHS Digital to explore the uses of blockchain with healthcare data
Digital and technology specialists, entrepreneurs and SMEs are invited to this ground-breaking event exploring the applications of blockchain in the NHS.
10:00am-4:00pm, 29 September 2016 | Digital Exchange, Bradford
Healthcare managers from NHS Digital will set out some of the challenges in data management in the NHS, followed by an ideation session with blockchain enthusiasts to develop potential solutions.
Participants will find out about
- How blockchain technology could be potentially used in the NHS to manage, protect and exchange healthcare data, for example in relation to medical records.
- Blockchain, the technical revolution that is a new way to store data and create software (best known as the technology behind the electronic cash system bitcoin).
- Opportunities to work up potential collaborative projects around ideas that emerge from the day.
- The work of NHS Digital (formerly HSCIC), the national provider of high-quality information, data and IT systems for health and social care in the UK – http://digital.nhs.uk/.
- Digital Catapult Yorkshire and its support of SMEs to explore new markets in emerging technologies through data-based programmes of collaboration and open innovation.
Since the application of blockchain to areas outside financial tech are relatively new, involvement in the workshop will be regarded as pre-competitive collaboration, where the outcomes are openly shared for the benefit of all.
