Event description
North-eastern troubadour back out on tour following his 6-year stint as The Songman in The National Theatre production, War Horse

About this event

Twelve years after he first visited this corner of the Ribble Valley when he accompanied Lindisfarne singer Billy Mitchell, Bob Fox returns for a solo show. Fox has been developing his gift for conveying the hurt, joy, politics and honesty of folk song for over 40 years.  He has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand, has collaborated with many top musicians and is the recipient of numerous accolades and awards. His work includes The Pitmen Poets and the BBC Radio Ballads as well as many acclaimed solo recordings. In 2011 he followed Tim Van Eiken and Saul Rose assuming the role of the Song Man in War Horse in London’s West End, subsequently touring with the show in the UK, Ireland and South Africa.

No doubt he will dip into the War Horse repertoire for his show at Mellor Brook but expect favourites from his broader repertoire as well: Rambling Rover, In the Bar Room, The Waters of Tyne, Big River, Farewell Johnny Miner, Champion at Keeping Them Rolling and The Bonny Gateshead Lass. As this show takes place on St Patrick's Day, it has been written into the contract that Bob performs The Galway Shawl

This event will be complemented by a licenced bar stocking a local real ale, red and white wine by the glass or bottle and a selection of soft drinks
