Book Launch Could Try Harder
Please join me to celebrate the launch of my new book Could Try Harder.
Book Launch: Could Try Harder by Eliza Fricker
What does it feel like to grow up autistic when nobody, including you knows you’re autistic?
Join us for the launch of Could Try Harder, Eliza Fricker’s powerful and deeply moving graphic memoir exploring the invisible reality of undiagnosed autism in girls and young women. Through evocative black-and-white illustrations and raw, unflinching storytelling, Eliza takes us back to her adolescence, a time of constant confusion, sensory overwhelm, exhaustion, and the relentless message that she simply wasn’t trying hard enough.
Expect an honest and compassionate conversation about late diagnosis, neurodivergence, shame, resilience, and reclaiming your story as well as readings, discussion, and audience Q&A.
Whether you are neurodivergent yourself, a parent, teacher, clinician, or simply someone who has ever felt “not enough,” this evening offers insight, validation and connection.
Eliza will be joined by co-host Hannah Berry, a (sometimes) award-winning comics creator, scriptwriter and campaigner, and UK Comics Laureate 2019–21. She is the author of three graphic novels for Jonathan Cape — Britten & Brülightly, Adamtine, and Livestock. Hannah has ADHD and another unknown flavour of neurodivergence, bringing both professional and personal insight to this conversation about creativity, difference and navigating a world not built with you in mind.
The evening will be a chance to buy a signed copy of the book and meet the author.
