BOOK LAUNCH: Effigies

Fabrica is a space where everyone can experience art. Through immersive exhibitions and commissions, we introduce visitors to the work of celebrated international and at the same time, we support and commission emerging artists, giving them the financial and creative support to make engaging and thought provoking work. This way, art is always here to surprise, challenge and inspire our communities.Cultural experiences at Fabrica are often immersive, shaped around our Grade II listed building. No prior knowledge of art is needed to step inside, and to engage, enjoy and respond. At Fabrica, our audiences can experience art in other unexpected ways:  through our ever-changing calendar of film screenings, talks, group discussions and community led events. And through a holistic programme of workshops where they might create sculptures, prints, drawings, textiles that supports learning and increases wellbeing. An evening of poetry reading, live drawing and celebration for the release of Effigies, Ricardo Reverón Blanco’s debut poetry collection.

just like with clay, I mould my brain’s voice to the rhythmic whispers it sings through my darkest slumbers. that is my effigy. a sculptural manifestation of my psyche. I am the only one that can see, hear and fear it - but now, I will share its existence with you, reader. we hope it is modelled to your liking. Effigies, Ricardo Reverón Blanco Inspired by Carl Jung’s shadow work theory, Effigies materialises the many personas we embody throughout the course of our life. Ricardo writes about saviours, confidants, virtue signalers and erudits amongst liars, cretins, manipulators, and impostors. This launch will animate these characters through a life drawing session delivered by Artists, Models, iNK. You will have the chance to meet the author and collaborators, purchase your copy and even reserve your own signed copy. Come along to see, draw, and listen to the inner dialogues that take place in the depths of our minds. This event will be photographed by Phoebe Wingrove. Presented in partnership with Fabrica. <ul><li>We recommend booking in advance for this event as places are limited. Bookings can also be made in person during gallery opening hours by speaking to a member of the gallery team or at Fabrica during office hours. Once paid for, tickets are non-refundable. Online bookings will close 1 hour before the event starts - unless ‘Sold Out’ there is likely to still be tickets available on the door.

About Effigies Effigies explores the multiplicity of identity by personifying them as distinct characters. It is first and foremost a poetic inquiry and introspective exercise. The collection has been made possible thanks to the these incredible creative minds: Alex Motiu - Illustrations Lily Hayes - Graphic Design and Typesetting Dopple Press - Printing Artists, Models, iNK. From initial living room set up to fully-fledged studio it&#x27;s been a wild ride and always growing and evolving.
