What shoes should I wear?

The walk does not cover any rocky terrain and much of it takes place on pavement, and so walking shoes/ trainers are preferable to walking boots. Suitable trainers will provide more comfortable movement and allow a quick walking pace.

What clothes should I wear?

We will keep an eye on the forecast but participants should be prepared for changeable weather (we are in Scotland after all!). A running top makes for a good base layer and walkers should have a waterproof top layer.

It's a good idea to bring a small backpack with a refillable water bottle and some energising snacks. Walkers may also want to bring blister plasters, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and an extra layer of clothing.

How will we get home?

Mini-vans will take walkers to University of Glasgow once the walk is complete. Trains to Glasgow Central run every half hour.

What if I would like to take part but for only part of the walk?

Participants will have the option to join in either half way through the walk on Greenhills road in East Kilbride, 12 miles from Dungavel or at the Heron Farm Shop and Kitchen near Strathaven, 5 miles from Dungavel.
