Overview

Using translucency and layering, participants explore how organic and geometric elements reflect women’s strength and creativity.

This International Women’s Day workshop invites participants to create tracing-paper collages that merge botanical forms with architectural structures, inspired by pioneering female architects and women botanists. Using translucency and layering, participants explore how organic and geometric elements reflect women’s strength, creativity, and resilience.

Female architects: Zaha Hadid, Lina Bo Bardi, Eileen Gray and Kazuyo Sejima.

Female botanists: Jane Colden (stamens and pistils), Marianne North (cocoa

tree, Nymphaea stellata), Agnes Arber (Cinnamon plant) and Katherine Esau

(sugar beetroot)


Structure of the workshop:

1. Inspiration slideshow (female architects & botanists)

2. Demo: layering organic + geometric forms

3 .Guided collage creation

4.Sharing circle + optional exhibition wall


Materials provided. Participants will leave with a layered collage honouring the interplay of nature, design, and women’s contributions across disciplines.
