Botany for Beginners: Plant Identification Training

Interested in learning more about wildflowers and improving your plant ID skills? Join us for this free half day introductory course.

<p>The Bathscape project aims to conserve our special wildlife habitats and help local people to gain skills and confidence in caring for them. During this training session ecologist Rupert Higgins will share key plant identification tips, as well as basic grassland survey techniques. We'll start indoors at Bath Cricket Club before taking a short walk (around 10 mins) up to Bathwick Fields where we'll spend plenty of time looking at the various grasses and wildflowers, learning which are considered indicator species and which are the most valuable food plants for invertebrates. You'll come away with a rounded knowledge of the enormous biodiversity benefits of species-rich grasslands.</p><p>We're running this botany for beginners course in the run up to our summer survey season. Course attendees will be welcome to join us on subsequent survey days to put what they've learnt into practice.</p>
