Event description

Description

Last year an Autistic Girls-specific safeguarding course was published online titled Boundaries, Bodies, Abuse and Reporting it for Autistic Girls, written and hosted by Berkshire-based autism advocate Carly Jones. To follow this, Carly is holding in-person, autism-specific safeguarding training hosted by Autism Berkshire.

The aim of this two-hour workshop is to discuss the differences needed in explaining boundaries to Autistic Girls, why boundaries maybe harder to recognise and how to recognise and report abuse, should it occur, in a timely and healthy fashion.

The course is in no way explicit and works on the basis of exploring our rights and respect as a means to understand when something goes against them.

We will serve tea, coffee, squash and biscuits from 4.15pm and aim to start at 4.30pm, to allow for time for travel after school pick-up.

Click here for details of Carly's online course.

All attendees will receive printed training materials and a certificate.

Please note that this workshop is for parents and carers and their daughters only. It is suitable for girls over the age of 10.

A course for professionals working with autistic girls is planned for February 2018 at RISC in Reading.
