By kind permission of Northumberland Estates and the Wilson family at Ingram Farm, and with support from the Ingram Cafe, the Bracken Control Group (BCG) will visit the historic Ingram Valley.

The event will start at 10:30, and it will provide an oportunity for members of the Bracken Control Group to come together to discuss matters relating to the control of bracken by all techniques. Other people with an interest in bracken control will benefit for being part of this discussion. There will be presentations about the outcome of trials that have tested the effectiveness of different herbicides on 17 sites across the UK, and the importance of following up the initial control treatment. Then the focus will shift to considering the threat posed by bracken to the integrity of historic sites and how to control bracken in such areas.

After lunch, organised by the Ingram Cafe, the meeting will move to inspect the nearby trial plots in Ingram Valley, led by Tom Gledhill from Historic England, and Ross Wilson, from Ingram Farm. These plots have been set up to compare the impact of different mechanical control methods on bracken growing on historic sites.

There will be an emphasis on allowing time for discussion throughout the event, which will return to the Ingram Cafe for a final discussion, before finishing at 15:45.

Please note that, as the numbers of delegates are limited to 40, applicants for tickets will be placed on a waiting list. Priority will be given to members of the Bracken Control Group but others with an interest in the control of bracken, from near or far, will be very welcome to join us. Attendance will be confirmed no later than Tuesday, 11th June.
