The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine welcomes you to an inaugural lecture showcase featuring two Neuroscience professors.Join Professors Richard Chin and Nathalie Rochefort to hear about their careers working in neuroscience, brain development and neural networks. Professor Richard Chin, Personal Chair Paediatric Neurology &amp; Clinical Epidemiology"China to Scotland via Jamaica and London: improving the lives of children with seizures"In his inaugural talk, Professor Richard Chin will share his personal, clinical and scientific journey to impove the identification and diagnosis of seizures, to address learning and behavioural problems in epilepsy, and to find and implement novel treatments. Professor Nathalie Rochefort, Personal Chair of Visual Neuroscience“Billions of neurons to see your world”Professor Nathalie Rochefort's lecture explores her work as a neuroscientist specialising in visual perception. Her research has driven the development of innovative imaging technologies that allow us to visualise active neurons in the brain. Using these tools, she has explored how neurons in the brain interpret the visual information received from our eyes. She will show how this neuronal processing is influenced by various factors, including past experiences and current metabolic states, which together enable us to perceive and interact efficiently with our world. ***5.00pm - 6.15pm - inaugural lectures6.15pm - 7.15pm - drinks receptionThis event is free and open to all.Please indicate any dietary or access requirements when you register to attend.Lectures are in-person only and will not be live-streamed.
