Textiles & Craft Club (Summer Term 1 for 6 weeks every Sunday) for kids 5+
Every Sunday 11.00-12.30pm Sunday 5th May through to 9th June 2024
Join us every Sunday morning for our very own Textiles & Craft club here at Clitterhouse Farm. The club will cover the following:
Sunday textiles in Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm provides programs that teach hand sewing and textile fibre arts to children in an fun and supportive environment.
Your child will be able to mentally unwind, and satisfy a need to use their hands to create something beautiful on their own. We support sustainability by engendering a philosophy of repurposing and by offering recycled materials during programs and project creation.
Our mission...
To provide children with a life-long skill in sewing and textile fibre art that fosters patience, persistence and self-esteem.
In upcoming sessions the children will learn basic hand sewing techniques.
All equipment and material are provided.
Session 1: Learn how to hand stitch
Introduction to basic hand stitches and threading a needle.
Session 2: Practising hand stitches on fabric.
Getting a good control with needle and thread.
Session 3: Making textiles collage 1
Learning about different types of textiles and prep for the collage.
Session 4: Making textiles collage 2
Making textile collage.
Session 5: Making soft toy 1
Preparing animal stencil for toy making and fabric cutting.
Session 6: Making soft toy

FAQ
What happens on the first day? One of the teachers will collect your child from the Clitterhouse cafe and take her/him to the workshop. Please arrive at least 15min before the event start .
Do I need to bring anything? No, all materials are provided. Please only bring a water bottle but no snacks please.
Do I need to stay with my child ? No, It's a drop off session but we kindly ask parents to stay on the premises.
What happens if my child gets unhappy? The teacher will bring your child to you for a comfort.
Can my 6 yrs old child manage? Yes, we'll guide and explain the project to your child, so they can understand.
Can I park / drop off my child in front of the Clitterhouse Farm? Unfortunately no, all vehicles must by parked outside of the premises.
Frequently asked questions
The club is for children aged 6+ and we ask that parents are on site. We have a lovely cafe where you can sit back and relax, enjoy a coffee in peace, perhaps even a slice of cake. Children under 6 can attend however must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.
