Despite efforts to increase diversity and inclusivity, women are still underrepresented in the tech workforce. Why is this so? We still face barriers to entering, staying, and growing within this sector. Saying that, we would love for you to join us for a lively panel discussion on Breaking Tech Barriers.This event focuses on bringing together passionate individuals who are committed to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for women in technology, creating meaningful connections, sharing experiences, and providing valuable advice to foster personal and professional growth.Version 1 aims to go above and beyond to ensure that the women in our workforce are treated fairly when it comes to pay, recognition, training, and promotion opportunities; where they can take the time off they need to attend to childcare or other family commitments; and where they are encouraged, empowered, and supported to do their best work.What to expect from the event?The event welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences. It will offer valuable knowledge for everyone, and we strongly encourage individuals of all genders to attend. The Panel will be followed by networking, which is designed to foster an inclusive environment for attendees.Our dynamic and innovate speakers, include: Claire Nixon is a senior recruitment professional with over a decade of experience in the technology recruitment industry. She has gained a reputation as an expert in her field, known for her ability to match top talent with leading companies. She is also an Executive Committee Lead for Women in Tech Belfast, whose aim is to help women enter and progress successfully in the tech sector. Claire is passionate about diversity within the workplace – and also campaigns for more young people to study and work in technology. Emma McClenaghan is the CEO and Co-Founder of Genysys Engine. Emma is educated in the philosophy of technology and specialises in customer focused website design. Over the last decade she has scaled many small businesses online using data-based decisions.Vanessa Milliken is a volunteer at Women Techmakers Belfast, an outstanding organization dedicated to supporting women in technology. After taking a few years off from work to raise her children, she decided to pursue further education in software engineering. Vanessa's motivation for this choice stemmed from her desire to enhance her career opportunities, recognizing the technology industry as one that offers abundant prospects. Honey-bell Oke is a Quality engineering leader who has years of expertise delivering and implementing high-quality strategies, standards, and holistic processes across several clients and projects at different stages of the software development lifecycle. In addition to her expertise as a coach, mentor, and people manager, she is also deeply committed to promoting the success of others. She is a multi-award-winning advocate of diversity, inclusivity, equity, and belonging, especially for her pioneering work in the successful Women in Tech programme at her company.The Venue &amp; Timing:The Version 1 office is located next to the Hiton Belfast and the BT Tower and is approximately a two-minute walk from Lanyon Place train station.
