Breakthrough T1D Discovery Event: Belfast

Riddel HallBelfast, Northern Ireland
Saturday, May 9 from 9:30 am to 3 pm GMT+1
Overview

This is an in-person type 1 diabetes(T1D) discovery day taking place in Belfast on Saturday 9 May 2026 to bring the T1D community together.

The event is designed to offer valuable insights, support, and inspiration to everyone affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). Open to families, individuals, healthcare professionals, and anyone connected to the condition, this inclusive and family-friendly day provides something for everyone.

Our discovery days exist to create a trusted platform for the T1D community to access essential insights and resources. At the event attendees, you can expect to recieve expert advice from local healthcare professionals and Breakthrough T1D on topics such as non-medical aspects of care, mental wellbeing, normalising the use of diabetes technology, supporting physical activity with type 1, and fostering a positive clinical experience.

What to expect

Throughout the day, we'll have a variety of speakers who will share their lived experiences, professional expertise, and the latest in type 1 research advancements.

You'll also be able to explore the technology exhibition to interact with the latest devices, seek advice on access issues, and address any questions about diabetes technology.

For families, entertainment is provided for primary school-aged children, while teenagers and adults can participate in dedicated peer support workshops designed to foster connection and community.

We have a breakout pathway for teens and young adults to focus on the topic of research, its focus, the importance of it and how accessible it is for people with the condition.

Our event is designed to offer a safe space to connect with peers, share experiences, and gain greater understanding of their diabetes journey.
