This course will help attendees to: <ul><li>To gain confidence and skills for assessment and management of dysfunctional breathing in athletes. </li><li>Learn what the influence of dysfunctional breathing has on sporting performance.</li></ul> <h3>Learning Objectives</h3>By the end of this workshop learners will be able to:1) Learn how to recognise dysfunctional breathing (DB) /maladaptive breathing patterns and to assess this issue in the context of other diagnoses such as asthma.2) To be familiar with the typical symptoms of DB &amp; Exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO).3) Gain confidence in recognising DB &amp; Exercise Induced Laryngeal Obstruction.4) To help an athlete understand what optimal breathing is and how it can improve performance and recovery5) To maintain and keep the athlete engaged in their breathing rehabilitation.6) Gain an understanding of laryngeal function and how to prevent EILO. <h3>Target Audience for this Course</h3>This ISEH Learning course is suitable for sports physicians, physiotherapists, sports physiologists, sports doctors, rehabilitation therapists, speech &amp; language therapists. <h3>Course Schedule</h3>08:45 - 09:00: Arrival - meet &amp; greet09.00-09.10 – Introduction to ISEH &amp; Welcome - discussion of aims &amp; objectives: Prof Mat Wilson, Prof Hull, Julie Moore09.10 - 09.30 – An athlete’s story – key issues/considerations09.30 - 9.55 – The athlete with breathing issues – how do you assess the issue and what are the key considerations.
