About this event

    Description:

Our body intelligently holds onto the collection of memories we experience in our lifetime. The joy, the pain, the excitement and of course, the grief. It remembers it all, even what we cannot remember cognitively or struggle to explain with words, our ‘body keeps the score’.

Part of the human experience is to have access to this diverse range of experiences, emotions and sensations. Yet there is often only space for the ‘good’ or ‘comfortable’ as a way of getting on with the roles and responsibilities of daily life. With this, we can sometimes end up going through the motions as a coping strategy, without the capacity to feel many highs because we don’t allow access to the lows.

Breathwork for Grief, is an exploration into what we might be holding onto inside, using the somatic practice of conscious connected breathwork as our tool. This is an important part of releasing what we have not had the time and space to process,

    • physically
    • emotionally
    • & within our psyche

    What to expect:

The session will begin with an explanation and demo of the breathing technique

You will then be asked to lie down and begin to breathe the connected breath, while music and your facilitator, Jasmine, supports your journey

At the end of the breathe, we allow everything to settle as we invite in the soothing sounds of the crystal bowls to nourish

There will be time at the end for integration, grounding and optional shares

While everyone has a different journey, you may experience:

    • Physical sensations within the body
    • Emotional processing and release
    • Profound clarity and insights
    • Altered states of consciousness

Conscious connected breathwork is known to:

    • Build resilience within the nervous system
    • Improve mental and emotional health
    • Enhance creativity

When we experience loss, words often cannot describe the extent to what we feel inside. The body has a way of speaking to us, when create the time and space to listen.

    What is 'conscious connected breath?

It is a powerfully therapeutic technique, known as conscious connected breathwork. Connecting the inhale with the exhale, using embodied movement and sound to bring us into connection with our body. It can be an activating practice, where we stimulate the nervous system in a safe and intentional way.

What can I expect to feel?

While the experience is different for everyone, people often experience great clarity, gain insights, release suppressed emotion, reach transcendental flow states and create deep connection with our intuition.

What is the facilitators background of training?

Jasmine has a trauma-informed, somatic approach and will guide you through the whole process. As a qualified breathwork coach, sound therapist and yoga teacher she will safely support you throughout the session.

What benefits can I expect from the session?

A natural built resiliency within your nervous system, deeper connection with yourself and your body, a healthy outlet for ‘difficult emotions’ such as anger, resentment, bitterness, connection with a like-minded compassionate community and space held for you to feel whatever it is you need to feel.

Is any prior experience with breathwork or meditation necessary?

Breathers and meditators of all levels of experience are welcome; the whole process will be explained on the day. Conscious connected breath helps quiet the prefrontal cortex, known as the monkey mind, so those who have struggled with meditation in the past have found this to change their experience.

Who should not practice conscious connected breathwork?

The contra-indications are for the following conditions: delicate or early pregnancy, detached retina, glaucoma, high blood pressure (without medication), cardiovascular disease, previous heart attack or stroke, diagnosis of aneurysm in the brain or abdomen, uncontrolled thyroid conditions, diabetes, epilepsy or bipolar disorder.

If I have the above does this mean I cannot attend?

Everyone is welcome in this space, whatever condition you are navigating. Conscious connected breathing won’t be suitable for everyone, so a different style of breathing will be provided for you. In this case, please inform Jasmine ahead of time.

    What should I wear?

We suggest wearing loose, comfortable clothing, with space around your belly, ribs, and chest. How should I best prepare on the day?It is advised not to eat a large meal 2 hours prior to the breathe as well as to not come over caffeinated, as this won’t support your journey.
