Open Call – Bring Your Own Performance (BYOP)

Registration Deadline: Wednesday 27 June, 9am

SPACE is excited to announce the first ever Bring Your Own Performance (BYOP) event at SPACE Mare Street on Wednesday 18 July, 6 – 10pm.

SPACE BYOP is a DIY one-night-only exhibition of performance created on site in negotiation and collaboration with other artists. This event coincides with the opening of the next Future SPACE proposal: Rainbow Tribe: Affectionate Movement R&R, a collaborative project led by visual artist Jade Montserrat and curator Chris Rawcliffe. Jade Montserrat will perform as part of BYOP.

BYOP is a spin off of Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB), an international movement of DIY moving image exhibitions. BYOB was started by visual artist Rafael Rozedaal and events have been held in over 40 international cities.

The SPACE BYOP is open to all artists working in performance. To participate in the upcoming event please register your details here. Spaces and time slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and you will receive a confirmation & instructional email upon registration.

Electricity, chairs and tables will be supplied where needed. Participants will be responsible for bringing anything else they require for their performance, including extension cords and AV equipment (laptop, dvd player, projector, speakers, mics, etc.) and for setting them up. Please note that where appropriate, you will be sharing the space with other performers so do consider the volume and footprint of your performance.

Established by artists in 1968, SPACE provides affordable creative workspace and support programmes for artists: commissions, exhibitions, residencies and training opportunities. SPACE also delivers Learning projects for schools, young people and communities neighbouring SPACE studio sites.
