Voluntary and community sector organisations
Businesses who provide volunteer opportunities for young people
Inspired Action is a youth engagement project with a difference; we reach out to groups of young people who typically don’t engage in volunteering, and explore ways to remove barriers to participation, so that everyone can enjoy the many benefits that being a volunteer brings. Funded by Spirit of 2012, and in partnership with Whizz-Kidz, we have supported nearly 700 young people into volunteering opportunities, and learnt a lot about being inclusive to disability along the way.
We would like to share our experience, lessons learnt but also excitement, joys and all the wonderful stories with our supporters and friends. It is therefore a great pleasure for us to invite you to our Final Learning Event, taking place on Thursday 23rd February, 2017 in The Royal York Hotel.
To secure a place at this event please register by the deadline of Friday 10th February 2017.
About Final Learning Event:
The event will mark the launch of our Inspired Action Toolkit, a valuable tool for you and your organisations. The toolkit will draw on the lessons from Inspired Action and provide plenty of recommendations for inclusive practice and case studies for anyone engaged in youth volunteering.
All the participants will have the unique opportunity to
Discover young people's views about volunteering and disablity
Engage in discussions on accessibility of volunteering
Learn from our case studies and reports from our focus groups
Share good practice with us and other organisations
Understand what we as individuals or organisations still need to improve when it comes to inclusive youth volunteering.
Young People Panel:
Following last year's popular demand and very positive feedback, the Young People's Panel is back!
Our young people will be showcasing their projects, ideas and experiences during the panel and throughout the day.
Please send us any questions you would like them to answer or topics you would like them to discuss prior to the event.
Workshops & Inspiration Speakers:
Choose 2 from 4 fun and interactive workshops with each focusing on a different aspect of inclusive youth volunteering. More details including the sign-up sheet coming up soon.
Our speakers on the day will be Channel 4 Sports reporter and wheelchair basketball player, Jordan Jarrett-Bryan http://www.rushtalent.co.uk/jordan-jarrett-bryan/
And Hattie Little, who represented GB in the Paralympics in 2012 in archery. Both Jordan and Hattie are Whizz-Kidz ambassadors.
