Event description

Description

Bubblesound Instruments are creators of some really nice modular, inspired by the design of vintage gear and using interesting components. They've carved out a reputation for great sounding, functional modules with some really smooth performance features.

______________________________

Here's a bit of chat from the man himself:

"While many people love the sound of vintage gear, much of the new crop of gear promising to recreate the full, rich sound of synths of the 60's and 70's has tried to do it with contemporary components and modern replacement parts. This may lead to a lower price and easier sourcing on the production side, but often at the cost of compromised sound quality and functionality.

At bubblesound we feel a little differently. We believe that the easiest and surest way to get that sound of the past is to use the original components, op-amps and transistors from the 60's and 70's. Much of the character of synths like the Oberheim SEM, ARP 2600 and the Korg MS-20 came from qualities of specific parts used in the original designs which is lost when one subsitutes modern parts for the originals.

While this design philosophy seems to fly in the face of the belief that low noise and presission preformance are the goals of instrument design, we believe this is the only way to achieve the same full and rich sound of the classic synths. Many of our designs are based on classics, expanded and unleashed in ways that we feel fully realize their potential, while preserving their character and sound."

IMPORTANT BITS

- This is a reservation only, and does not grant access to Machina Bristronica. For this you'll need to buy a ticket for the day event which can be found here.

- Build sessions begin at 12:30. If you have not arrived by this time, workshop leaders reserve the right to give your place to other attendees.

- Please note all build sessions run from 12:30 - 16:30. Please only book one session, as reserving spaces on multiple sessions prevents other attendees from getting the chance to build. Also it's highly likely that you won't be able to partake in multiple sessions due to the build time recommended for some modules.

- After booking your place you will be contacted with a list of available modules from your chosen company as well as their individual prices. Please let us know what you'd like to build as this saves each company having to bring 8x stock of everything they have!

- As each module is priced differently you'll be required to pay for your workshop in cash on the day. This is paid directly to your workshop leader. This allows for flexible workshops and means that the companies get the most direct payment!

- Soldering irons will be provided on the day by the companies.

- No experience is needed, we want these workshops to be as open as possible to all our attendees on the day. However, if you are worried about your technical ability, or the difficulty of a certain build get in touch and we can put you in contact with the workshop leaders.

- Any further questions or enquiries please contact Ben@elevatorsound.com
