Pitch Masterclass Series

We are pleased to announce a series of workshops for graduates and students aimed at developing your skills around how to pitch and developing and realising a concept. The workshops take the form of an interactive workshop, with a presentation and individual exercises along the way.

The series aims to prepare you for working life as a freelancer in industry. You will be guided you through the different stages of turning your project into an event concept from pitch ideation to preparing for pitching to clients.

After the course, if you want to work on a 1-2-1 basis with our consultants, you can book ‘Design Thinking Sessions’. This series of 6 sessions support you in taking your concept through to delivery. In these sessions, the consultant supports you with creating a road map, goal setting and breaking the project down into manageable stages.

The course is developed and delivered by Helen Spencer (@adventuresinapparel), who was until recently a lecturer at the University of Arts London in fashion and textiles and cultural studies. She has extensive experience working in the fashion, events, and creative industries, working for a broad range of companies as well as collaborating with brands on her own events and projects with brands such as LVMH, The Groucho Club, Wilderness Festival, W London, and Pernod Ricard.

Pitch Ideation Workshop - Tuesday 14th May 5.30pm -7.30pm

This workshop is a brainstorming session. Please bring your project ideas with you – these could range from events to exhibition proposal. Maybe you will have a couple to choose from. During the workshop, you will be prompted through the process of identifying a viable project and mapping out your concept. By the end of the session, ideally you will have selected your project for the course to flesh out in the next workshop.

Questions are welcome and you will have opportunity to ask them throughout the session or in the Q&A at the end.

Pitch Development Workshop - Tuesday 28th May 5.30pm - 7.30pm

This workshop helps you decide the outcome of your project. This is an important stage of the process where you flesh out your brainstormed mind map for your concept. By spending time really refining the mission, aims and objectives that have motivated you to host this event, will help improve it’s success. Some questions to consider…

What event type do you think will align most with your aims and objectives?

Will it be a talk or exhibition or performance?

Who is your target audience?

Where will it be held?

Who can you ask to support you in hosting the event?

What message do you want the audience to leave with?

By the end of the session, you will know what event type you are working towards to start developing the budget in the next workshop.

Questions are welcome and you will have opportunity to ask them throughout the session or in the Q&A at the end.

Budget Development Workshop - Tuesday 11th June 5.30pm - 7.30pm

During this workshop, we look through some budgets developed for Adventures in Apparel events. These are the structure and template you can use to develop and refine your own budget. We consider the event production in three different phases – Research & Development, Pre-Production and Production. Also, central to the process is working out your day rate and those of your collaborators and incorporating this into the overall budget.

By the end of the session, you will have a working draft of the budget using the template provided to start considering funding and sponsorship in the next workshop.

Questions are welcome and you will have opportunity to ask them throughout the session or in the Q&A at the end.

Funding & Sponsorship Workshop - Tuesday 25th June 5.30pm - 7.30pm

This session guides you through the process of developing the sponsorship budget and creating tailored packages for different sponsors. You will work through exercises to prompt you in developing the right approach and strategy to securing funding and sponsors from different sectors.

By the end of the session, you will have a template for the tiered sponsorship packages for your event to start considering the final stage of delivering the pitch to the client in the last workshop.

Questions are welcome and you will have opportunity to ask them throughout the session or in the Q&A at the end.

Pitch Delivery Workshop - Tuesday 9th July 5.30pm - 7.30pm

This final workshop prepares you for pitching your concept to clients. It will be a combination of presentation and following exercises to prepare your pitch. Then you will informally work in groups to refine the pitch. Please don’t worry, you won’t be asked to present in front of your group, but the value of peer support and feedback is important.

By the end of the course, you will have a template for your event and should feel confident in the process from ideation to client pitch presentation. The aim is to leave with tangible steps and templates you can use going forwards in developing your event concepts into realised projects.

Questions are welcome and you will have opportunity to ask them throughout the session or in the Q&A at the end.

*£39 per workshop or buy the series ticket to attend the whole series and for a discounted price of £150 (you will gain access to the course materials and slides on demand).
