Welcome to our Circular Construction network! We will be joined by Tom Seath from John F Hunt, to discuss deconstruction processes.

BUILD-CC Launch: Deconstruction in PracticeThis online event will provide an introduction to the network, covering our goals for the year, results of the signup survey, and preliminary planning for the BUILD-CC knowledge exchange conference this summer. We will then be joined by Tom Seath, Sustainability Manager at John F Hunt (demolition contractors), and Alexander Dhesi, PhD student at UCL (circular construction), to discuss their recent collaboration on a deconstruction trial carried out at a central London site. The trial involved an attempt to deconstruct partition walls, with the aim of salvaging light gauge steel studs for reuse.Tom will dicsuss John F Hunt's activity in the transition from demolition to deconstruction, and the influence of circular economy policy and strategy on the business. Alexander will cover the motivation, aims, and findings of the deconstruction trial in the context of his PhD study into circular construction systems.The presentation will be followed by a short Q+A session.
