The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) is home to the world's largest collection of working historic computers.Follow the development of computing: from the Turing-Welchman Bombe and Colossus of the 1940s through the large systems and mainframes of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, to the rise of personal computing and the rise of mobile computing and the internet.Recognised as one of England’s top 100 ‘irreplaceable places’, we welcome corporate and group visits, schools and individuals from all over the world.We are normally open Tuesday to Friday 10:30 -17:00, Saturday & Sunday 10:30 – 17:00. Drones are making a real difference today in Conservation, Transportation &amp; Emergency response! The next generation of young Scientists, Engineers, Mathematicians and Technologists will be designing, building and flying these future vehicles. Join our Code/Build a Drone Workshop and get started on this exciting journey! What This Workshop Will Include: Session 1: Code a Drone (Approx. 1hr)This session will begin with a short presentation and a flying demonstration given by an expert drone pilot from The Drone Rules! Then it's your turn: <ol><li>Plan a flight route for your drone to get you from A to B. </li><li>Measure the distance between each 'gate' (cone obstacle) along your route. </li><li>Use these values to write a code on a tablet and upload this to your drone. </li><li>It's time for take off! Launch your drone and find out if you have coded it successfully to reach your destination. </li></ol>Session 2: Build a Drone (Approx. 1hr)<ol><li>Your time starts now! Race the clock to construct a Lego frame for your drone and integrate the battery using 22 components. </li><li>Once assembled, connect the motors and flight computer to your drone. </li><li>It's time for a flight test! Pass your drone over to a professional pilot and find out if your drone can successfully fly. </li></ol>Participants will be split into two groups. One group will begin with the Code a Drone Session, the other will begin with the Build a Drone Session. After 1 hour, the groups will swap over. Participants will work in pairs during both sessions.
