Building a Mutable Net #3 - Building the Commons
Activate a mesh network and collectively define its governance, values, and shared principles.
In Building the Commons, the network becomes active and the focus shifts to governance.
Participants will collectively set up a mesh network and reflect on the principles that guide its use and development. Drawing from references such as the Pico Peering Agreement and the Wireless Commons Manifesto, we will discuss how infrastructures can be governed as shared resources.
This session explores how technical systems embed social and political values, and how communities can define their own rules, agreements, and forms of organization.
The workshop culminates in the collective creation of a document - a shared manifesto - that outlines the values and direction of the network developed throughout the series. This document becomes part of a growing archive of experiments, contributing to a broader ecosystem of shared knowledge.
As part of Building a Mutable Net by Luca Marini, this session frames networks not only as technical artifacts, but as spaces of collective imagination and governance.
No previous technical experience is required.
