Overview

A hands on practical session where participants will be taken through the steps of building a WordPress website.

Please note: To join this workshop you or your business needs to reside within one of the following GM local authorities: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside or Trafford, Wigan.

You also need to be: The owner of a business OR an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.

To ensure we have the correct information, please fill out the Generator Registration Form, or bring one of the following forms of identification with you to the workshop:

  • Your National Insurance (NI) number – if you have not yet registered a business
  • Your Companies House registration number or Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) – if you have registered a company with Companies House or are self-employed/sole trader registered with HMRC

Kindly note that we may not be able to admit you to the workshop without this information, so we strongly encourage you to have it ready on the day.

Building your Website Part 2: Build your Wordpress Website

This workshop is designed to move beyond theory and give participants a clear, practical, and platform specific approach to using social media effectively for their business.

The session will cover -

  • Learning to use Wordpress, including different features, tips and general clarity on the site
  • Designing/ building the different aspects of a website and covering again what should be added and why
  • For those who wish, this can be a guided walk through setting up a basic site during the session that can be improved and built upon at home
  • How to upload your site, edit once uploaded and track use etc from visitors
  • Pitfalls, dos and don’ts

Please bring with you a laptop or device to participate in the practical elements of the session.
