Experimental Media and PerformanceDear friends, ticket holders and community,It is with sincere regret that we must announce the cancellation of Bunker Down! Experimental Media and Performance, previously scheduled to take place on February 7th 2026 at the Barnton Bunker.After careful consideration and in light of recent health and safety concerns raised in connection with the venue, we have concluded that cancelling our event at this time is the most responsible course of action. The wellbeing of our participants, artists, crew, and audience is our highest priority, and this decision reflects our commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone involved.We understand that this news will be disappointing, and we deeply apologise for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause. We are working to review the circumstances thoroughly and responsibly, and will communicate any future plans or updates as soon as they are available.We have put many voluntary hours into organising this event – the response has been incredible – we sold out the event within two weeks of announcing. There is definitely a demand for this kind of experimental event highlighting the amazing work of Scotland’s media and performing artists. It is our intention to move forward and find an alternate venue for this event.Finally, a huge thank you to the artists and performers who so enthusiastically embraced participating in this project. We truly value our community and look forward to creating safe, engaging experiences together in the future.With gratitude,Joseph DeLappe, Laura Leuzzi, and Adrian Hon Come along to a unique, engaging, free event showcasing the work of a dynamic group of Scotland-based media artists within the intriguing space of Edinburgh’s secret nuclear bunker at Barnton Quarry. Prepare for an immersive encounter exploring spaces built for secrecy, protection, and survival in the event of nuclear war. We are repurposing these atmospheric corridors and rooms on the ground floor level, installing artworks and featuring live performances which elevate the experience, provoke thought and stimulate conversations, through technology.The event features artists working in many different types of media, including film, video art, music, sound art, performance, interactive body augmentations, virtual reality, video games and photography. Their work is gathered within the overall theme of life in our uncertain, contemporary times – is it now time to Bunker Down?Artists and performers featured will include: Emily Beaney, Biome Collective, John Butler, Joseph DeLappe, Zhiyang Ding, Gair Dunlop, Christine Ellison &amp; Jules Rawlinson, Victoria Evans, Beverley Hood, Laura Leuzzi, Adam Lockhart, Hadi Mehrpouya, Christos Michalakos &amp; Dimitris Papageorgiou, Emile Shemilt, Irvine &amp; Spence, and Martin Zeilinger.Important information: · Dress warmly, with sturdy footwear - the bunker is a former military site with uneven floors and low lighting. · Feel free to BYOB and bring snacks - no catering available onsite. · Regrettably, the site is not currently fully accessible for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. · Children under 8 are not permitted; 8-16s must be accompanied by an adult at all times. · Please follow the organiser’s instructions at all times.Tickets: The event is free but we request all attendees to register here for a ticket.Curated by Joseph DeLappe and Laura Leuzzi.
