Tuesday 21 st March 6-8 p.m. Free EventBurning ThingsShowcase of new moving image work by emergent artists from England, Wales and Hong Kongtaking part in the Pave Your Path programme co-organized by Film London Artists’ Moving ImageNetwork (FLAMIN), G39 (Cardiff) and Videotage (Hong Kong) and supported by the British Council.Featuring work by a new generation of moving image artists, Burning Things captures the breath anddiversity of contemporary artists’ film across 18 exciting short films. Travelling through speculativefutures, archival histories and animated worlds, the films featured in the programme draw upondance, poetry and performance, with innovative approaches to new media technologies. Withmoments of solace, humour, joy and sadness, each film burns with a brief intensity, casting new lightamidst the murk of uncertain times.Artists featured in the programme include: Asmaa Jama, Aled Simons, Bo Choy, Ben Dawson, ChrisChilds, Hou Lam Tsui, Kit Griffiths, Kitty Yeung, Kwan Q Li, Phoenix Ngo Chun Tse, Paul R Jones,Ronan Mackenzie, Roanna Holmes Frodsham, Radha Patel, Samson Wong Pak Hang, Tobi Onabolu,Thisby Cheng and Zillah Bowes.The event will include a presentation by the FLAMIN Team on opportunities for support and financeavailable to artists in the UK.The Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) was launched in 2005 as a one-stopresource to provide artists working in the moving image with access to funding, guidance anddevelopment opportunities. Through unique commissioning funds, FLAMIN has commissioned over200 productions, and supported the careers of countless other artists with programmes of one-to-one advice sessions, residencies and workshops.About Pave Your Path: Career-focused Workshops for Moving Image ArtistsPave Your Path: Career-focused Workshops for Moving Image Artists is a UK/HK workshops andscreening program running from February to April 2023, with the aim of strengthening collaboration,knowledge sharing, and links between HK and UK artists. Co-organized by Film London, G39, andVideotage, the project strives to strategically support the next generation of moving image artpractitioners, in particular emerging artists, who are working to build their careers in the art sector.Through sharing of knowledge by reputable industry professionals, the project will equip the artistswith vital information and skills in fundraising, collaboration, contracts, copyright, green production,idea presentations, and curating.
