Cultured Mongrel is the creative handle for the artistic practice of Emma Jayne Park; dancer, theatre maker, collaborator and micro-activist.From her base in Scotland she works locally, nationally, internationally and as Associate Artist with The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival; one of the world's largest social justice arts festivals.'High octane... energetic, witty and playful'(The Skinny) she uses physicality as a catalyst for connection, making performance that brings attention to the issues facing society today.Tackling nuanced themes, her work connects with audiences through its authenticity, honesty and an underlying aim of creating spaces for dialogue about the complex matters that impact our everyday lives.Her artistic focus includes questioning perceptions of identity, failure, autonomy, authorship/ re-authorship, reimagining inherited power structures, cultural change and rescaling performance.

Weaving spoken word and movement, we are taken through Australia&#x27;s fiery history including Penny&#x27;s own experiences. Embedded in sound is the Australian Black Summer; magpies that have learnt to mimic emergency sirens, shark sirens and helicopters circling overhead. With original music by Paul Michael Henry, interwoven with the delicately detailed lighting design of David Bowes, this is an autobiographical dance-theatre work from the daughter of an environmental geochemist, bringing together fact and personal account. &#x27;Burnt Out&#x27; is at once an intimate personal story and a universal meditation on our changing climate.This digital filmed version was made by Alan Paterson, and recorded in Tramway&#x27;s T4 theatre.Penny wishes to acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the land involved in the work and to pay her respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders; past, present and future.Audience notes: Deals with Bushfires and Climate Change. More details will follow shortly.-----This screening of Burnt Out will be preceeded by a short outdoor intergenerational dance performance, initially created for STORM&#x27;s visit to Dumfries in October. Performed by a cast aged 18 months to 50+, the piece is in inspired by Climate Change Activism worldwide. The development of this work was supported by Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival and Dumfries School of Dance. Funded by DG Unlimited and The Holywood Trust as part of DG Dance&#x27;s Youth Dance Advocates Programme.
