Business Leaders Lunch – the challenges of high profile sport
Paul joined the board of Brighton & Hove Albion FC in June 2012. In his first season, the club secured its highest league position for over 30 years, made the Championship play-offs and signed its largest ever shirt sponsorship deal. Having been named Championship CEO of the Year in 2013, Paul went on to win Sports Executive of the Year at the 2016 International Stadium Business Awards.
Paul’s career in professional football has spanned 20 years. He’s held senior positions at Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and The Football Association; and served on committees for the EFL, FA, UEFA and FIFA.
So what are the challenges of working in high profile sport on both sides of the Atlantic? How do you generate the huge revenues needed to secure such highly paid sportsmen? Not to mention the complexity of staging near weekly events for hundreds of thousands of fans?
Paul will reveal all. He’ll talk about the skills and techniques involved in managing an incredibly diverse workforce of footballers, coaches, doctors, dieticians, groundsmen, accountants, marketers, engineers, statisticians and more.
An inspirational talk over a delicious two course lunch with a glass of wine and plenty of time for networking.
