Description
Black Stock Films and Rhythm & Views Film Festival in association with the BFI's (British Film Institute) Musicals Season presents Cabin in the Sky, an inspiring heritage Faith & Film event.
Cabin in the Sky (1943, Dir. Vincente Minnelli) is a thought-provoking and uplifting jazz musical about the battle between good and evil for a human soul.
Petunia Jackson has been struggling to get her husband to lead a 'righteous life'. But when he is shot and on the verge of death, we see the drama of heaven and hell fighting to claim him.
The film will be followed by a panel Q&A exploring faith and belief, Black film history, heritage, and representation with guest speakers Bishop Mark Nicholson, former soul singer-turned-lay-preacher Tracey King (Minister Tracey), and writer/filmmaker & cultural curator Nia Reynolds.
This unique event is a seasonal Bright & Beautiful: Black Musical Movie Heritage night of entertainment, upliftment & culture.
