Overview

A gentle mama and baby group for the early weeks

Calm & Connect is a small group session to gently ease you and your baby through the "fourth trimester" - the wonderful, overwhelming, messy period of helping your baby make the transition from the womb to the world, whilst you recover from birth and adjust to motherhood.

Each week we have a guided group activity to give you the tools make this rollercoaster feel a little smoother, such as baby massage.

This is followed by a cuppa & cake/biscuits and time to talk with other mums about the highs and lows of life with your new tiny human.

Support is also on hand if you have anything on your mind to do with infant feeding or sleep, no silly questions or worries.

Come as you are, no expectations or judgement, feed/change/comfort unsettled babies as needed, and leave feeling a little lighter.

FAQs

What age is this for?

This group is best suited from newborn up to about 4 months old, but we aren't super strict. If you feel this is what you need right now, older non-mobile babies welcome too.

When is it held?

Fridays 1:15pm-2:15pm, weekly during term time.

Where is it?

In the upstairs room in Didcot Library, opposite the registry office.

(There is a lift and it's fine to bring your pushchair up.)

What should I bring?

Just your lovely selves and any feeding & changing kit you may need.

We set up the room with clean playmats, baby toys, and a changing mat.

Who are the facilitators?

Suzanne - experienced baby massage & women's yoga instructor.

Kath - Didcot Baby Monday's Infant Feeding & Sleep Counsellor.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge, but if you would like to make a donation this is much appreciated and we suggest £5.

Select a "ticket" to book your space then in the optional "donation" box enter the amount of any donation you wish to make.

We aim to raise most of our funding from grants, but this is an ongoing challenge and your donations make a vital contribution to us being able to run these sessions as open to all.

Note that a donation alone is not a ticket, you must register to attend with a ticket too.

Capacity is limited. If fully booked please join the waitlist and we will release a space for you to book if one becomes available.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO ATTEND AS SESSIONS ARE USUALLY FULLY BOOKED WITH A WAITLIST.

PLEASE NOTE: Didcot Baby Monday is a small charity and our remit is for families in Didcot and surrounding villages (Sutton Courtney, Chilton, Harwell, Steventon, Milton, Culham, Blewbury, N/S Hagbourne, N/S Moreton, Upton, Appleford, Long Wittenham). We would love to accommodate families from a further afield but unfortunately we do not have capacity at this time. Please answer the questions when you book - in order to manage demand and meet our grant funding conditions your booking may not be accepted if you do not have a postcode in the area above.

*We use the term mother rather than parent here to identify the need for dedicated support during the intense psychological, physical, hormonal and social change that occurs in pregnancy and the postnatal period. Birthing parents who do not identify as female, and non-birthing parents and carers for whom this resonates and who feel they would benefit from attending are of course very welcome.
