🌟 About Baton of Hope UK 2025
Baton of Hope UK is the country’s biggest suicide prevention initiative. Its mission is to bring change and hope to the world for a suicide-free society. Because no one deserves to die by suicide. The movement aims to spark vital conversations, break stigma, and offer hope to individuals and families touched by mental health struggles and suicide.
Hasu Innate Wellbeing is proud to support this cause by offering three introductory sessions to Zen meditation and mindfulness and remind us that:
Wellbeing begins within. It is accessible to all of us, whatever our circumstances.
Mind and body are not separate. We can learn how to work with both and bring them in alignment to restore our wellbeing.
Change is possible for everyone and it begins with awareness. Through conscious choices, and consistent practice, we can shift even entrenched patterns of suffering.
🌿 Why Mindfulness and Meditation?
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when we or someone we love is facing deep struggles. Moments of despair or hopelessness can feel all-consuming. Yet, through mindful awareness, we can learn to meet even the heaviest of feelings with awareness and compassion.
Through the practice of mindful meditation we begin to experience an important truth: all feelings, thoughts, and emotions are temporary no matter how awful or blissful. And we can learn to ride the waves without being swept away by them.
Backed by over 40 years of scientific research, meditation and mindfulness have been shown to:
Reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
Improve sleep and mental clarity
Support resilience and emotional balance
Strengthen self-compassion and perspective
Provide tools to support ourselves and those we care for
Whether you are living with suicidal thoughts, supporting a loved one through struggle, or simply seeking ways to feel grounded in your life, these sessions offer a gentle, hopeful way to support your wellbeing.

Frequently asked questions
Not at all. These are introductory sessions designed for beginners and open to everyone.
No. These sessions do not replace therapy, counselling, or crisis support. They offer simple, evidence-based practices that can complement other forms of support.
Just yourself. Comfortable clothing is recommended. Chairs will be provided, but you are welcome to bring a cushion or blanket to roll up if you prefer to sit on the floor.
That’s completely natural. Mindfulness is about showing up as you are, without pressure to get it “right.” You will be gently guided throughout, and you’re free to pause or adapt at any time. We aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental, inclusive and confidential space for you to just be as you are.
Anyone. These sessions are for individuals navigating their own challenges, as well as friends, family members, or carers supporting someone else. All are welcome.
Yes, the practices are safe and designed to be supportive. However, if you are in crisis or at immediate risk, please reach out for urgent professional help. The Baton of Hope Derbyshire charity stall can signpost you to appropriate resources during the event.
