Babraham Bioinformatics are part of The Babraham Institute and has experience in a wide variety of areas of bioinformatics including genomics, proteomics, statistics and microarrays as well as having extensive experience of custom software development.

What are the aims? The three-day hackathon will bring together people to work on life science-related computational projects. The hackathon is an excellent opportunity to improve your coding skills, network with people in your field, or to try out that project you've always wanted to work on but never found the time. Alternatively, you may want to work as part of a team in a field that is completely new to you. What should I do? It 's really up to you. All that we ask is that you work on a computational project with a life sciences focus. Ideally, the project should be self-contained i.e. started in the hackathon and hopefully you will have had time in the three days to have made some progress. Many of the participants last year came up their own ideas for a project and worked on that for the three days. 
Alternatively, you may want to work on one of our proposed projects. Our sponsors and project mentors have come up with a number of projects in which you are completely free to participate.  Or maybe, one of the hackathon participants is already working on a project that interest you. 
 What skills will I need?  The hackathon is aimed at people of all skill sets, from people new to coding through to experts in their respective fields. This is a chance to work in a friendly collaborative atmosphere and have some fun.
 What do I need to bring? Just you and a laptop. (We do have a small number of spare laptops available if you are unable to bring a laptop for yourself).
 How much is it? Taking part costs £30 for three days. (That´s just £10 per day.  Although hackathon T-Shirts  are not available to new sign-ups at this late stage, food and drink is included as is the opportunity to spend your time in the wonderful Centre for Computing History).
