About this event

A discussion workshop exploring your views on data to inform Camden’s policies and procedures. We are interested in hearing how you weigh up risks and benefits in discussion with other residents. For example, how should data about your health and social care needs be shared to deliver the best joined up service possible whilst also protecting privacy? Or how do you feel about your data being confidentially shared between the NHS, the council and government contractors to help plan and improve health and care services? Or how do you feel about how personal data is shared for Test, Track and Trace to balance minimising the spread of Covid-19 whist minimising intrusion into residents’ lives.

As a gesture of thanks for your time participants taking part in this workshop will receive a £10 Love2Shop voucher.

What would taking part involve?

The workshop will be online via Zoom. You can attend with a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access, or if you don’t have access to any of these, you can join from any phone via a freephone number.

We will send you guidance information ahead of the workshop for how to use Zoom and will also send you information materials to consult during the workshop. You will not be expected to read anything ahead of the workshops or have any prior knowledge about the subject.

During the workshop Camden’s community facilitators will guide you through the conversation and help ensure everyone’s views are heard. Your views will be captured and shared with London Borough of Camden to inform their policies in this area.

What is the project?

Sharing Health and Social Care data has the potential to benefit individual patients and provide wider improvements to Health and Social Care services. For this to happen service providers need to understand more about how people view data sharing. This project aims to reach out to communities across Camden and to promote debate and dialogue about these issues. This will then inform London Borough of Camden’s policies on Health and Social Care data sharing, as well as helping to create a Data Charter for Camden, delivering improved outcomes for communities.

Who are we?

Camden is working with involve, the UK's leading public participation charity, on a mission to put people at the heart of decision-making and The Alan Turing Institute – the United Kingdom's national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.

This initiative is funded by London Borough of Camden and Wellcome, a research charity with a mission to improve health for everyone by helping great ideas to thrive.
