Camera Obscura on Campus

What is a camera obscura? Ever wondered how one works? Could you be inspired to make one of your own?

Join Alasdair in this fun and educational demonstation of his pop-up camera obscura!

Location

The camera obscura will be erected by the side of Airthrey Loch and will be open for you to drop in from 0900 - 1015.

Please be aware we are popping up during Parkrun so campus will be busy with riunner. Allow plent of time to get to us and give runners right of way.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

About Alasdair

Alasdair works with traditional and digital photography processes, often combining them to create strongly aesthetic pieces.Preferring handmade, improvised cameras to expensive, technical equipment, he is also a firm believer that all phone-cameras offer unparalleled potential for everybody to produce great images. He enjoys demonstrating the fascinating physics and processes of photography and introducing people to alternative ways of making photographs.

The Stirling Photography Festival is delighted to be partnering with the Art Collection at the University of Stirling again this year in the delivery of an exciting day of events on campus. Do take the opportunity to visit the Pathfoot Building and view the current exhibition. The Stirling Photography Festival also have an exhibition by Simon Murphy in Macrobert Arthouse as part of this year's festival, running 20th August til 20th September.
