The Curve Slough

We are excited bring you CAMPFIRES, a storytelling project as part of our Once Upon A Time In Slough programme. Created and designed by our Community Programming Board (CPB), CAMPFIRES paired five community groups with storytellers to create fascinating fables which will be told around an actual* campfire on Saturday 12 March at 1pm! On the day, we have some amazing performances. Local Slough artist and writer, Theophina, will be sharing stories about food and recipes from the Caribbean diaspora. Katy Cawkwell, who has been a storyteller for 26 years, created a story alongside Slough Young Careers discovering folktales. Slough based improv collective, Winging It, have been shaping stories and conversations with the Chalvey Community Partnership, running workshops, and eating samosas from Mithai Box! Artistic director of The Greenhouse Theatre, Oli Savage, has been sharpening up his dance moves with Lesna Polana, a polish folklore dance group, devising a story deriving from Polish Culture. Poet, puppeteer and storyteller for the Young Shakespeare Company, Bryony Reynolds, will be sharing a spoken word story piece, in conjunction with her time at SHOC. There will also be a shoe drive and ability to donate blister packs on the day, in support of SHOC. We also have best-selling author, Venessa J Taylor, reading her story “The Bone and The Brush” from Home Slough’s incredible story kits which are available to order here.
