The EduExe Festival will run throughout June 2023 as a celebration of teaching and learning at the University of Exeter. The festival will celebrate and showcase the achievements of our staff and students alongside providing opportunities for professional development and discussion of key issues in education.

These live workshops open up critical dialogue about complex challenge often within Personal/Academic Tutor style settings.

These live workshops- developed and facilitated by Drama undergraduate &amp; alumni performers- open up critical dialogue about areas of concern or complex challenge often within Personal/Academic Tutor style settings. The live sessions use innovative dialogic theatre techniques to facilitate conversations about how we approach situations with students in meetings and in our educational community here at Exeter. The sessions create a safe space for staff as audience participants, to unpack complex questions around the role, responsibility and best practice of a personal/academic tutor in wellbeing &amp; privilege themed Tutee meeting scenarios. The sessions will highlight and address boundary issues which may help tutors/staff to manage their role in a way that supports their own well-being as well as that of their tutees/students.The session begins with a live forum theatre scene performed by graduate actors, that presents a complex scenario between a personal/academic tutor and a tutee. Participants are invited to safely engage in conversation around the themes of wellbeing, privilege and tutor best practice that arise from the performance. Participants then see their suggestions played back to them by the actors, and the dialogic safe space is reopened for participants to discuss the complex questions that arise around the best practice of a personal/academic tutor in these scenarios.By the end of this session participants will be able to appropriately manage well being and privilege issues. They will be able to identify some racism and microaggression situations, and support tutees appropriatelyS﻿peaker biography:Exeter Drama Alumni Amy leads this Education Incubator, HUMs for all and Social Mobility funded programme, developed with Dr Erin Walcon, that addresses how staff and students manage wellbeing challenges, privilege and other areas of concern whilst at University. This project uses innovative dialogic theatre techniques to facilitate conversations about how we approach these challenges within teaching practice and in our educational community here at Exeter. The group delivers both student-facing and CPD/staff-facing Forum Theatre sessions, often set in Personal Tutor Meeting scenarios, that provide live and engaging preventative support. Exeter Drama Alumni Sonia Thakurdesai &amp; Declan Coker have collaborated with Amy on this phase of the project, and will be joining her to pilot new live scenes and discussions in this new privilege themed workshop. T﻿he workshop is part of the Success for All strand of the festival, and maps to A2, A4, V1 and V2 in the UKPSF.
