About this event

Family & Education • Education

Carbon colonialism explores the issues around outsourcing environmental impact, where emissions and waste are exported from rich countries to poorer ones.

Taking a wide-ranging, culturally engaged approach to the topic, the first part of the session will be a lecture where Laurie explres how the climate emergency is not only a technical problem, but a problem of cultural and political systems and structures - from nationalism to economic logic - deeply embedded in our society.

Following an opportunity to discuss the issues with Laurie, we will then look at Global Citizenship activities and resources to explore the issues with your learners.

The session is aimed principally at GTCS-registered teachers in secondary and upper primary. It will be online using Microsoft Teams as the platform.

This session forms part of our SDG Seminar Series. Watch out for other lectures coming up in 2025 to 2026.
