Our brand new Carbon Literacy for Museums Toolkit will enable all museums to deliver Carbon Literacy training within their organisations.
About this event
Museums have an important role to play in tackling the climate crisis – not only by reducing the emissions created within the museum sector, but also as storytellers, stewards, and trusted public institutions with the power to influence.
Funded by Arts Council England, and developed alongside Museum Development North West, our brand new, free* Carbon Literacy** for Museums Toolkit will enable all museums to deliver Carbon Literacy training within their organisations.
The Carbon Literacy Project and Museum Development North West are hosting a launch webinar on Monday 24th January 2022 from 14.00 to 15.30, during which we will discuss how your museum can access the Toolkit and take questions from attendees. We’ll also hear from museum sector staff who will share their experiences of their Carbon Literacy training.
The Carbon Literacy for Museums Toolkit has been designed with museum staff and volunteers in mind, and will empower all museum workers to enact significant, achievable change within their workplace to reduce carbon emissions, and to use their platforms to positively influence their audiences and communities.
Our Carbon Literacy for Museums Toolkit contains a day’s worth of learning and action planning, and has been co-created, reviewed, and piloted alongside a panel of museums and organisations in the sector, ensuring it is a practical and relevant resource to support your museum’s environmental responsibility goals.
The Toolkit consists of a Slide Deck; a comprehensive Trainer Manual; activity resources; a ‘Getting Started’ pack; a pre-recorded video to support delivery; and a post-training resource document for learners.
If you are booked on to attend this event but have not received joining instructions via email by the morning of the event, please check junk/spam folders and call 0161 298 1782 if you still cannot find the Zoom link.
* Learner certification fees, generally £10 per learner, still apply. The training materials are free to use by museums and their approved training providers for the purposes of certified Carbon Literacy training.
** Carbon Literacy is an adaptable framework for a day’s worth of practical training on how to best contribute to tackling the climate crisis.
The Carbon Literacy Project is not-for-profit. It is owned by The Carbon Literacy Trust and delivered by Cooler Projects CIC.
