Are you looking to kickstart your career or make a transition into the technology industry? Whether you're returning to work or exploring a new path, our event is the perfect opportunity for you to take that first step.


Join us at Opencast for an introduction to the world of tech, where you'll gain hands-on experience and learn about the exciting possibilities in the industry. This event is designed for anyone eager to explore a career in tech, no matter where you're starting from.

You'll participate in sessions that explore various career paths within the tech industry, with the option to join workshops on CV building and interview techniques.

Afterwards, you’ll have the chance to make connections and have one-on-one conversations with recruiters and employers. We’ll be providing drinks and food at the session.


Sessions to choose from:

  • Introduction to User Centred Design (UCD) - In this session, we’ll cover four key UX disciplines: User Research, Service Design, Content Design, and Interaction Design. You’ll learn how each one works, routes into UCD and what a typical day looks like in each role. Plus, you’ll have the chance to try out an interactive session to help you start thinking the UCD way.
  • Introduction to Product Delivery (PD) – You’ll explore four key Product Development practices: Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst, and Agile Delivery Manager (also known as Scrum Master). You’ll gain an understanding of the differences between these roles and the essential skills required for each.
  • Introduction to Software Delivery (SD) - You’ll cover five different practices: Software Developer, Quality Assurance (QA), DevOps, and Technical Architect. Learn how these roles differ and how they collaborate within a team, along with the key skills required for these fast-evolving positions.
  • CV workshop - You'll work together and with Opencast’s Talent Engagement Team to explore valuable CV tips and learn the key dos and don’ts when applying for a role.
  • Tackling Interviews – Explore how to approach interviews in the tech sector. You’ll hear from Opencast interviewers as they share the qualities and attributes they value in a candidate and the best methods for on how to preparing for tech interviews.
