Cassani/Campbell/Stephen @ Canvas Dundee

CANVAS DundeeDundee, Dundee
Sunday, Dec 28 from 7 pm to 10 pm GMT
Overview

Creative, jazzy, free, joyful…it’s all of this and more with Roberto Cassani (double bass), Fraser Campbell (sax), Graeme Stephen (guitar).

Cassani/Campbell/Stephen @ Canvas Dundee

A joyful celebration of improvised music and friendship from a trio of unique Scottish artists.

Fraser Campbell has been based in NYC for many years now, but he is from Perth, and returns when he can, to let loose with pal double bassist Roberto Cassani (who’s not strictly Scottish, but we’ve adopted him). The pairs’ 2023 album “Poet.Shuts.Clock” came out to rave reviews on the legendary Sunnyside Records. Meanwhile, Scotland’s guitar treasure Graeme Stephen, also released a critically acclaimed album with Roberto this year: “Pictish Spaghetti”, on Brooklyn label 577 Records.

The trio met this summer for one afternoon and almost accidentally ended up recording a belter of an album of groovy and ever changing free music: “La Cavallina”, soon to be released on brand new label ‘Music for the purpose of Joy’.

Now they are meeting up again for more of the same, but obviously different, and this time you can be there to witness it, ar Canvas, which has become the place for great music and Jazz in Dundee.

You will be made very welcome: it’s going to be friendly, joyful, a real one-off and totally in the moment.
