Catalyst Conference 2019

The Annual Catalyst Conference is the chance for VCSE organisations in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees to come together to discuss issues, network and learn more about what is happening.

Following the success of last year's conference, Catalyst is hoping that 2019's is going to be even better.

This year's keynote speakers will be:

  • Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor
  • Peter Stark OBE, a leading voice in fighting climate change

This year the lunchtime presentation from Hartlepool & Stockton Health .

There will be workshops, networking and stalls from VCSE and partner organisations from across Stockton-on-Tees. Tea, coffee and lunch are provided.

The workshops will be discussing the following topics:

  • How Social Enterprises should be Thinking as a Business

A workshop on how social enterprises can work more effectively and start thinking like a business.

This will include moving forward in a changing environment. Bringing money in to secure jobs in your social enterprise. Coming up with new ideas for social enterprises, understanding the viability and implementation.

  • The Benefits of Volunteering for Mental Health

This interactive session will explore how volunteering can be good for our mental health. Based around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, it will demonstrate how doing good really can do you good!

  • How a Community Group can Change Your Life

Come along to see Cleveland Carvers deliver a demonstration of carving as well as a display of complete carvings made by their members. The group will talk you through how being a member of the group has benefitted them in unexpected ways, including reducing isolation and offering an unofficial peer-support group.

  • Tees Valley ESF Community Grants

Sue Hannan and Kirsty Johnson (Hartlepool Borough Council) will be attending to run a workshop to give more information and answer queries on funding opportunities using the new Tees Valley European Social Fund Community Grants.

Grants are available from £10,000 to £20,000 specifically for third sector organisations and small companies who can assist unemployed or inactive people aged 16+ progress towards employment, education and training.

The session will explain how organisations can apply, go through the application form and explain the key requirements for using ESF grant funding.

  • Are the Health Services you use meeting your needs?

This workshop will explore the different mechanisms for you to influence how health services are commissioned and delivered locally.

  • Best Practice for Project Management

Following the success of the River Tees Rediscovered Landscape Partnership, join them to discuss best practice for complex project management, financial claims, and reporting processes. They will discuss the must do's, the should do's and the ideally would like to do's when managing multiple projects.

The conference will end with our final guest speaker, Tricia Stewart, one of the original Calendar Girls played by Helen Mirren in the hit film.
