Catch Me // Upswing

Dance Reading is a development organisation, supporting and enhancing the dance landscape in Reading and the surrounding area. We are passionate about creating a thriving and diverse dance landscape in our town. We bring high quality professional performances to wide reaching audiences. We work with young, emerging and professional artists, providing advice, support and developmental opportunities. We deliver a month-long festival of dance every November, celebrating exciting and innovative dance locally and nationally.

Dance Reading

Catch Me is an intimate and surprising take on age, race and gender. A duet – at a distance – between an older woman and younger man negotiating a tower of chairs while confronting literal and metaphorical barriers. Two bodies discover unexpected connections whilst never quite reaching each other. Part installation and part performance – a poetic, contemplative yet joyful mix of dance, acrobatics and distanced companionship, Catch Me asks how we see each other and who we value. Filmed for the Newham Unlocked online festival in August, this beautifully edited film of Catch Me brings the viewer into the heart of this intimate relationship.
