Change It Up

Change It Up

Highland Third Sector InterfaceDingwall, Highlands
Tuesday, May 5 from 9:30 am to 4 pm
Overview

We will be joined by Neil Sykes from Clan Alchemy and Nadia Fyvie from the Productivity Agency to run a course just for the Third Sector

Through a reflective, practical approach, participants will understand why people interpret the same message differently — and how to bridge that gap. Across both sessions, delegates will leave with a clear, useable plan they can act on straight away.

Neil’s session focuses on people and how we make meaning of situations, and how that meaning is uniquely ours and gives us the outcomes we get. It will examine how conflicts are rarely about facts, rather about different meanings being made of the same situation; that misunderstanding happens because we all filter our information differently; and how feedback often falls short as a result, e.g. where someone will hear an observation, someone else will hear an instruction. Delegates will leave knowing “that’s why my colleague always does that” or “that’s why this thing is always happening”, or “I can see where I am going wrong here” moments. We also look at the issue of generational differences in the workplace.

The session delivered by Nadia focuses on how best to manage the resources you have at your disposal. It focuses on the notion that ‘change is a constant’ - but it often arrives without extra time, people, or funding even. The challenge isn’t caring enough; it’s keeping everyone focused and moving in the same direction when the goalposts keep shifting. Nadia’s session helps people cut through the noise, rebuild clarity, and make confident decisions - even when resources are tight. It’s about learning to focus limited energy where it creates the most impact and strengthening communication and alignment across teams and projects.
