The biggest social issues can seem overwhelming – and sometimes, that can stop us asking if there’s a different way to solve them.During this event,<a href="https://www.socialfinance.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Social Finance</a> and <a href="https://www.lloydsbankfoundation.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lloyds Bank Foundation</a> will be sharing lessons from a new report ‘Changing Lives, Changing Systems’. We’ll be discussing how to pursue systems change in practice and will share our insights from reducing and preventing domestic abuse through <a href="http://driveproject.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Drive</a>.Drive represents a new approach to a longstanding issue – better tackling of domestic abuse by challenging it at the source. Drive has worked by changing the way that the criminal justice system, social services, public agencies and charities respond to domestic abuse. Through bringing together a range of partnerships, Drive has shown how, with the right approach, charities can change public sector practice, policy and funding. Drive has significantly impacted the lives of 1000s of people across nine places in England and Wales, and in turn, has shaped policy as well as practice.Over the years, many organisations have been part of conversations and initiatives about ‘systems change’, what it is and how to make it happen. With Drive, we are walking the talk. Now we want to share what we’ve learnt on the journey, to help others bring about systems change, whatever the issues they work on.The event will include:<ul><li>the chance to hear from the report author, Dan Jones, who will share the key lessons from ‘Changing Lives, Changing Systems’</li><li>a discussion with <a href="https://www.nesta.org.uk/team/ravi-gurumurthy/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ravi Gurumurthy</a>, CEO of NESTA and <a href="https://www.friendsprovidentfoundation.org/about-us/our-people/profiles/danielle-walker-palmour/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Danielle Walker Palmour</a>, Director of Friends Provident Foundation, who will be sharing their reflections on the findings and lessons in the report. Both of Ravi and Danielle as individuals and as leaders of their respective organisations have extensive experience of encouraging and supporting systems change.</li><li>the opportunity to discuss and share with other attendees about your reflections and experiences.</li></ul>The event will be hosted by <a href="https://www.socialfinance.org.uk/who-we-are/people/emily-bolton" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Emily Bolton</a>, Director at Social Finance and <a href="https://www.lloydsbankfoundation.org.uk/about-us/bio-duncan-shrubsole" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Duncan Shrubsole </a>Director of Policy, Communications and Research at Lloyds Bank Foundation alongside members of the Drive Project Board.We hope this report and the discussions on the day can help us all to shape, change and develop systems to tackle huge social issues – something we need now, more than ever, as we cope with the unprecedented challenges and some opportunities posed by COVID.<h3>Who is this event for?</h3>This event is for anyone interested in tackling social issues through developing and changing systems. We will be sharing learning from Drive during the event, but you don’t need to be an expert in domestic abuse to attend. Both the report and this event are about sharing learning for people working on issues in other sectors.
