Changing lives with data
Mon 20 March 2017, 13:00 – 16:00
Data can change lives! Huge amounts of data are made freely available by government and other organisations across Scotland. Find out what is available, how it is used, and how you can use it to provide insights which could change lives!
- Overview of the kinds of data that government makes freely available
- Demonstration of statistics.gov.scot, the new website providing access to Scotland’s official statistics
- Demonstrations of different ways in which people have used/visualised government data
- Advice on different ways of visualising data yourself, including ways of producing infographics and interactive data visualisations.
Between the presentations, there will be an interactive session. A number of stalls will be set up, demonstrating data published by different parts of the government in Scotland and some other organisations. There will be an opportunity to see what is available, ask questions, and discuss ideas or problems you are having.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
No parking is available, but the event will be held at New Register House, which is just off the east end of Princes Street (round the corner from the Apple Store), so there are excellent public transport links by bus, tram or train. The event location is just two minutes from Edinburgh Waverley Station.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
You can contact firstname.lastname@example.org
