"The rules of a game should be transformed by the process of playing, just as the characters should be transformed by their actions within a story."This workshop, aimed at theatremakers with an interest in game design, writing and/or dramaturgy, will offer practical exercises for thinking about rules (spoken and unspoken) in gameplay and ask: when is change possible? What changes us?

This workshop will explore:

• Building a creative universe with a distinctive set of rules,

• What the narrative consequences are when those rules are altered or transformed,

• The real-world implications of rules breaking or changing, and how those real-world implications can affect game design.Facilitator Eve Leigh is a writer for performance, working across theatre, games, audio, screen, and digital.
