Organised in conjunction with the Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory, the workshop is part of the Italian Cinema Audiences project, which is led by Dr. Daniela Treveri Gennari (Oxford Brookes University), Dr. Danielle Hipkins (University of Exeter) and Dr. Catherine O'Rawe (University of Bristol). This collaborative project (funded by the AHRC) investigates the history of cinema-going in Italy in the 1950s. Since the project was launched in 2013, we have gathered memories from over 1,200 people (across eight different regions in Italy) using a combination of questionnaires and video-interviews.

To mark the end of this initial three-year project, we are organising a one-day workshop to reflect on the methodological practices used in this kind of interdisciplinary research, which unites digital humanities, oral history, new cinema history, memory studies and work on ageing. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers, practitioners, curators and cultural organisations from different backgrounds so that they can share ideas and their experiences of working in areas related to cultural memory, oral history and digital technologies.
