Cornwall Council is taking bold steps to protect and restore our treasured marine environment with the launch of the Marine Nature Recovery Framework (MNRF)— a visionary, locally-led initiative designed to tackle the climate and ecological emergency facing our seas.
Recognising these pressures and the need to take urgent action to protect and restore our seas, the Framework sets out a voluntary, evidence-based roadmap to guide marine conservation efforts across the region. It complements the statutory Nature Recovery Strategy (NRS) and aims to ensure that at least 30% of land, rivers, and seas are well managed for nature by 2030. It has been developed through a collaborative process, led by Cornwall Council and supported by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Marine and Coastal Partnership (MCP).
This Autumn, Cornwall Council is inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders to have their say on the newly drafted Marine Nature Recovery Framework (MNRF) via its public consultation, which is being launched Friday 29th August and will run for six weeks until the 10th October 2025.
To support the public consultation process, we are organising an online webinar which is open to anyone keen to learn more about the Framework, with an opporutnity for questions.
