Event description

Description

We're collaborating with one of our Accelerator alumni, circular.fashion, to bring you a Learning Lab on circularity as part of our upcoming REBORN theme at Fashion for Good.

Fashion is stuck in a pattern of ‘take-make-waste’, which causes devastating environmental impacts, not to mention huge economic losses. On average, we buy 60% more clothing than we did 15 years ago — but we keep each item only half as long. It is estimated that nearly 60% of all clothing produced is burned or landfilled within one year of being made. The good news is there are alternative approaches: the fashion industry can transform the linear ‘take-make-waste’ model to a circular, restorative and regenerative approach.

circular.fashion is a Berlin based sustainable change agency creating product and system innovation for a circular economy in fashion and textiles through their Digital Platform and Training and Consultancy.

During this session Ina Budde, Co-founder of circular.fashion and Jonna Haeggblom, Head of Marketing at circular.fashion will share their knowledge through hands on work-stations with demos on circular design processes, materials and recycling. They will also be sharing best practice examples of circular design developments mock-ups and full garments. Ina and Jonna will also share the outcomes of the Circular Design Training held earlier in the day in which they encouraged and supported fashion brands to embrace circularity into the core of their business.

After the presentation you will be able to learn more at the Demo Tables (showing material recycling processes, circular textiles combinations) and Circular Design Showcase.

Who this session is for: Anyone who would like to know more about Circular Design or learn the latest tips and tricks on how to design clothing in a circular way - from material selection, designing for material cyclability and longevity, retail services to take-back systems and recycling of textiles.

What you will get out of the session: A deep understanding of circularity in the context of the fashion industry and concrete examples of how to incorporate circular practices into the design of garments.
