citizen science in practice
Explore the river Coln, through talks, citizen science, shared ideas and guided walk. Bring a packed lunch!!
Join the Coln River Restoration Group for a special community engagement event celebrating the beauty, wildlife, and future of rivers across the Upper Thames catchment.
Working alongside the The Ernest Cook Trust and the Upper Thames Partnership, this event will bring together local communities, river lovers, landowners, and young people to explore how we can all play a role in protecting and restoring our waterways. While the day is rooted around the River Coln and its surrounding landscape, the conversations and ideas will reflect the wider rivers and streams connected throughout the Upper Thames.
The Ernest Cook Trust supports learning from the land, helping connect people — especially young people — with nature, conservation, and outdoor education, while the Upper Thames Partnership works across the catchment to improve rivers, biodiversity, landscapes, and community engagement.
The day will include community talks, sharing ideas and local knowledge, discussions around river restoration and citizen science, and ways local people can become involved in monitoring and caring for river health. The event will then be followed by a guided river walk exploring the wildlife, history, and challenges facing these precious waterways.
Please bring walking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, and a packed lunch as we come together to learn, connect, and help shape a healthier future for our rivers. Everyone welcome.
